We will be writing children’s books and donating them to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. This will be a learning process as well as a chance to give back to our community. For this project, each student needs to bring in $1.50 for his/her supplies. If a student wants to work alone instead of in a pair, he/she must bring in $3.00.
Thank you for the donations of tissues. We appear to have plenty for the last few weeks of school.

This is the last week of the 3rd Quarter. It will be important to turn in any missing work from absences by Wednesday morning so they can be counted toward your grade.
We will begin to gather donations for the reward raffle this week. A letter will be sent home to give you suggestions about what might be donated. Thank you for your support of this incentive program.

I can’t believe it’s snowing on February 28th, but I love it.
There are only two more weeks before Spring Break, so this is a good time to check PowerSchool for missing assignments. Nothing drops a grade faster or farther than a zero.
AR tests must be taken by Friday, March 6th. Parents, you might ask your student what they are reading and if they have taken the test.
International Night is this Thursday, and I would urge you to attend. The food is always great, and the entertainment rocks!
The Agenda is posted above along with vocabulary words.

If you have not paid $4.00 to cover the cost of the new online AR program, please send it as soon as possible. It was due on February 13th
Check out the Agenda to find out what we’e doing this week.

Enjoy the day off on Monday. We will be able to watch the Presidential Inauguration on Tuesday so some classes may not be able to complete their practice writing until Wednesday. I am seeing some excellent essays, and I hope you encourage your students to bring them home so you can read them as well. We are working to correct some common errors in spelling and punctuation as well as improve our writing by adding adjectives, adverbs, and prepositional phrases. Don’t forget to catch this week’s agenda above.

Happy New Year and welcome to a month of writing emphasis!
The TCAP Writing Assessment is scheduled for February 3, 2009; and we will spend the month of January learning how they are scored and how to perform well on this important evaluation. The students at Schilling Farms have a history of high scores so I know my fantastic students will give their best effort and bring home excellent marks. Parents can visit the state website to see samples and obtain information about how to help your student succeed.
Check out the link to the weekly agenda above.
Thanks for making my Christmas such a wonderful time. I appreciate each and every gift!

Please remember to send in a donation for the Angel Tree if possible. Each homeroom has a child that needs clothes and toys for Christmas.
We are nearing the end of this quarter, so it is important to check PowerSchool and make sure you have no missing assignments.
The students are enjoying the project on a Person of Influence. I think you will be pleased at their final manuscripts.
