This is the last week of the 3rd quarter, and students should have all make-up work in by Tuesday. Students are out of school next week for Spring Break. When we return on March 24th, we will be working hard to prepare for TCAP testing in April. Please expect a heavier homework load during this time period. Students can also prepare for TCAP by reviewing the chapter highlights for each chapter.

Research Papers are due Tuesday!

Science Fair Research papers are due Tuesday. They will be a science grade and a language arts grade, so they are very important. I gave the students an outline to follow to help them construct their papers. Some key components:

1. Title page

2. Table or Contents in an Outline Form

3. Report (Research) - I have posted a page on this.  Look up at the toolbar below my name and link to it.

4. Bibiography (Works Cited) - You need about 6 sources with at least one from a source other than the internet.

Science Fair

Parents and Students,

All science classes are required to complete a science project and paper.  Students should begin researching their topic and developing an experiment to test their research question.  Students should use the scientific method as they plan, develop, and complete the project.  Projects will be due Feb. 12.  The project must include a three-sided, free-standing backboard and a paper that includes a write-up of the experiment.   The paper should be typed (double-spaced and size 12 font of Helvetica or Times New Roman print type.

Parents, you can assist and encourage your child by:
1.    Asking questions about their project.
2.    Assisting them with ideas.
3.    Assisting them with materials they need.
4.    Guiding the experiment process and helping students keep deadlines.
5.    Proofreading the experiment’s paper to help correct spelling and grammatical errors.

You can link to helpful information on my web page.

Final Days Before the Holidays

Filed under: Uncategorized — lhatcher @ 10:16 pm and

As we approach the Christmas Break, we are nearing the end of the semester. It is vital that your students turn in any late assignments, make-up work, or projects before the break. Remember that for Language Arts, an AR test needs to be taken before the break as well. Check out my web page by clicking on the link at the right.
